Tequilas Philly: Philly’s Best Restaurant Ever

I’m one of those people who truly loves food and Philly restaurants have yet to disappoint but one in particular trumps them all. While walking down 16th Street a couple weeks ago I stumbled upon the most authentic and exquisitely refined Mexican fare ever-Tequila’s. Without a doubt their menu rivals its namesake!

While the beauty of the interiors are enough to keep you coming back it’s the food that steals your heart and one thing is certain-chef Claudio Soto is madly in love with food! Over the past two weeks I’ve enjoyed dishes like the Crema Conde and Sopa de Tortilla that are delicate in texture yet packed with authentic home grown flavor.The Chiles Rillenos takes the expected smokiness of the poblano peppers and replaces it with a wonderful sweetness so good that it makes me wonder if his abuela is secretly running the kitchen. 

The overall presentation is highbrow without being pretentious (as seen in their frijoles negros mousse) but what really captured my attention is the labor of love that goes into each dish. Every ingredient tastes like an MVP player on an all-star team, individually unveiling themselves with each bite. One thing is certain- there is nothing mediocre on Tequila’s menu. Eventually I know I’ll make my way to ordering tequila.
